Whilst I was in the midst of planning my beautiful rainbow cakes, I spent a lot of time on Pinterest looking for inspiration. During the hours I was scrolling through the cakes, one thing kept coming up and catching my eye.
Beautiful, delicate lace cakes which were the TOTAL OPPOSITE of the bright and beautiful cakes I’d been looking at. But still. So, so pretty.
Pale and beautiful and elegant and pretty. I could definitely see myself having a cake like this.
Aren’t they lush?
I could ever have lace flowers, if I wanted. Like this gorgeous thing, or this.
So sweet and demure and pale and pretty and…oh? What’s this?
That’s pretty. And still gorgeous and delicate. It’s not like the colour detracts from the…oh.
Oh. I love it. All the prettiness of the lace with all the bright, bold fun of the colours.
Then I saw this, and basically my plans all fell apart.
HOW GORGEOUS IS THIS CAKE?
I would swop the peach flowers for brighter, deeper, darker pinks. And I would prefer the bottom layer to be plain blue rather than with ruffles…but oh. I love it.
I can’t find a website for the original baker of that cake, which is a pity as I LOVE it and want to send Emmy a message virtually shaking her hand.
So with this I started looking more seriously into lace and colour for my cake, because if I could make something that beautiful I’d be overjoyed.
