A few weeks ago, I was invited to a party on a rooftop in Dalston by Weber. It was in the middle of that patch of gloriously sunny weather, so I invited along my three favourite women and fully expected to have a lovely evening out in the balmy spring sun with some delicious food and some live music.
Of course, on the day of the event it absolutely piddled it down with rain, but we still managed to have a good time.
Weber sell grills and barbecues. They were holding this event to launch their new campaign, #comeonover. They did a study which shows that less than 5% of people in the UK know their neighbours’ names, and wanted to change all that by encouraging people to have a BBQ this summer and invite people over.
They’re also teaming up with the Fabulous Baker Brothers to launch a competition to win an “Oustanding moment” – a party, with barbecue and accessories donated by Weber and a Weber chef to help you cook. Find out how to enter on this page and watch Tom of the Fabulous Baker Brothers have his outstanding moment below.
It’s British Barbecue Week until the 31st, which is as good an excuse to have a BBQ as any. They’ve got tonnes of recipes on their website – I really liked this German pizza, but this pork belly roast looks amazing and you can even make bloody banana bread on a BBQ apparently. My favourite of the recipes I was given that evening was this jerk chicken – that recipe isn’t on the website unfortunately, but these chicken recipes all are.
So, you should definitely enter the competition, and if you decide to hold a BBQ this weekend (or at any point this summer!) you should send me a photo. Here are some of my other recipes I think go great in a BBQ:
- Balsamic chicken
- Simple potato salad
- Lemon and coriander rice
- Chicken and pepper kebabs
- Braised red cabbage
- Lamb and pineapple kebabs
And here are some more photos from the event!
